ABOUT ME
January Jones is a award-winning writer/director.
With a background in journalism, she brings a sharp, socially conscious lens to her filmmaking, crafting stories that amplify the voices of women and the LGBTQ+ community.
Most recently, her horror/thriller feature screenplay Hysterical was shortlisted for the 2025 AWG Emerging Writers’ Awards and added to the prestigious Pathways Showcase. Read it here.
Her most recent short film, Get Home Safe (2024), won the Sue Blainey Award for Best Female Storyteller at Bass Coast Shorts and received a High Commendation at Canberra Short Film Festival.
In 2020, her screenplay Inherent was longlisted for the AACTA Pitch: Isolation initiative in partnership with Monster Pictures.
A graduate of the VCA’s Film and Television Foundations course, her award-winning short Lone Wolf (2019) earned international acclaim and screened at festivals worldwide, including Fantasia International Film Festival, BFI Flare, Mardi Gras Film Festival, and Final Girls Berlin - where it won the Audience Award.
January has also produced several shorts, including the award-winning The Test, which screened at Flickerfest and St Kilda Film Festival, and picked up multiple prizes such as Audience Favourite at Keighley Arts Festival and the Uplift Award at Geelong Pride Film Festival.
She also expanded her expertise into production design for the upcoming comedy web series Nobody’s Business.
